Al-Ghashiya (The Overwhelming) - سورة الغاشية

    بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

    88:1

    Play

    هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ

    Are you aware of the Overwhelming?

    88:2

    Play

    وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَاشِعَةٌ (۲)

    Faces on that day will be shamed.

    88:3

    Play

    عَامِلَةٌ نَاصِبَةٌ (۳)

    Laboring and exhausted.

    88:4

    Play

    تَصْلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةً (٤)

    Suffering in a blazing Hellfire.

    88:5

    Play

    تُسْقَىٰ مِنْ عَيْنٍ آنِيَةٍ (۵)

    Drinking from a flaming spring.

    88:6

    Play

    لَيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ ضَرِيعٍ (٦)

    They will have no food except the useless variety.

    88:7

    Play

    لَا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِي مِنْ جُوعٍ (۷)

    It never nourishes, nor satisfies hunger.

    88:8

    Play

    وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَاعِمَةٌ (۸)

    Other faces on that day will be full of joy.

    88:9

    Play

    لِسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ (۹)

    Satisfied with their work.

    88:10

    Play

    فِي جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ (۱۰)

    In an exalted Paradise.

    88:11

    Play

    لَا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَاغِيَةً (۱۱)

    In it, no nonsense is heard.

    88:12

    Play

    فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ (۱۲)

    In it, a spring flows.

    88:13

    Play

    فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَرْفُوعَةٌ (۱۳)

    In it, there are luxurious furnishings.

    88:14

    Play

    وَأَكْوَابٌ مَوْضُوعَةٌ (۱٤)

    And drinks made available.

    88:15

    Play

    وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ (۱۵)

    And pitchers in rows.

    88:16

    Play

    وَزَرَابِيُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ (۱٦)

    And carpets throughout.

    88:17

    Play

    أَفَلَا يَنْظُرُونَ إِلَى الْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ (۱۷)

    Why do they not reflect on the camels and how they are created?

    88:18

    Play

    وَإِلَى السَّمَاءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ (۱۸)

    And the sky and how it is raised.

    88:19

    Play

    وَإِلَى الْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ (۱۹)

    And the mountains and how they are constructed.

    88:20

    Play

    وَإِلَى الْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ (۲۰)

    And the earth and how it is built.

    88:21

    Play

    فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ مُذَكِّرٌ (۲۱)

    You shall remind, for your mission is to deliver this reminder.

    88:22

    Play

    لَسْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِمُصَيْطِرٍ (۲۲)

    You have no power over them.

    88:23

    Play

    إِلَّا مَنْ تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ (۲۳)

    As for those who turn away and disbelieve.

    88:24

    Play

    فَيُعَذِّبُهُ اللَّهُ الْعَذَابَ الْأَكْبَرَ (۲٤)

    GOD will commit them to the great retribution.

    88:25

    Play

    إِنَّ إِلَيْنَا إِيَابَهُمْ (۲۵)

    To us is their ultimate destiny.

    88:26

    Play

    ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُمْ (۲٦)

    Then we will call them to account.
